The Angry Gardener 1994
Plaster
16' long
The Angry Gardener is a plaster tableau or "scene" made in 1993-94. The twisting gardener holds in one hand a stick, and in the other a bag full of body parts. He stands in front of an eight-foot high facsimile wall, topped with colored glass shards. A tree extends up and over the eroded wall. Behind the wall lies a rent and dismembered figure on the ground.

This is one of a number of tableaus that involve a dramatic pairing of figures. Something threatening has occurred here, but the specifics are unclear.
